New Meta features for Whatsapp for Business Owners: Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is planning to introduce a verification process for businesses on WhatsApp. This means that businesses on WhatsApp can get verified by Meta to assure users that they are communicating with a legitimate business.

Meta’s Vice President, of Business Messaging Nikila Sirinivasan said that Meta would soon make it possible for businesses to receive verification from Meta, so users will know they are chatting with the right businesses.

To become Meta verified, businesses will need to prove their authenticity to Meta. In return, they will receive a verified badge, improved account support, and protection against impersonation. This is to ensure that users can trust the businesses they interact with on WhatsApp.

In addition to verification, Meta will offer some premium features to verified businesses. These features include creating a custom WhatsApp page that is easy to find through web searches and support for multiple employees to respond to customer inquiries.

Meta plans to start testing Meta Verified with small businesses using the WhatsApp Business app before extending it to businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform in the future.

WhatsApp is used in 180 countries and is available in over 40 languages on the iPhone and 60 on the Andriod. As of 2023, it had over 2.78 billion users, including both consumers and companies.

Meta Verified for Businesses will offer benefits such as a verification badge, better reach, and protection against impersonation. This badge will be the same as the one offered to creators, so they won’t be distinguished.

Meta is also launching a feature called “Flows,” which will allow businesses to offer a wide range of services without users having to leave the chat. This feature will be available to businesses worldwide using the WhatsApp Business Platform in the coming weeks.

Meta Verified for Business will start rolling out to select markets in the next few weeks.
